As reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Kylian Mbappé told those in the press area at the end of his team’s Classique win over Marseille that he had never asked to leave the club in January.

Reports had emerged in the past week over the French forward’s reported sense of betrayal over broken promises made by the club when he decided to extend his contract back in May – notably regarding their summer business as well as his role in Christophe Galtier’s attacking set-up.

Further claims later in the week linked his decision to leave with the Mediapart investigation alleging that PSG contracted an external company to lead campaigns against media outlets and players using an “army” of fake Twitter accounts. Mbappé is said to have been one of those targeted. PSG have strongly denied the claims made by Mediapart.

When asked whether he had fallen out with the club, the World Cup winner was clear in his response:
