SmackDown on Fox’s overnight viewership was back over two million last night, averaging 2.042 million viewers in the fast nationals. That’s up 2.3 percent from last week’s overnight number.
The audience was very consistent throughout the episode. It averaged 2.046 million viewers in the first hour and 2.037 million in the second hour. SmackDown finished last among network programming in viewership, with ABC’s 20/20 coming in just ahead of SmackDown at 2.139 million.
In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.5 rating. That was tied for second on the networks behind ABC’s Shark Tank. It was the same overnight rating as last week and marked the sixth time in the last seven weeks that SmackDown has drawn a 0.5 in the fast nationals.
In 18-34, SmackDown drew the same 0.3 overnight rating as last week and every week this year except for one. SmackDown beat everything else on the networks in that demo.
Year-over-year, SmackDown was up 1.4 percent in overnight viewership from this week in 2020. That’s the first time the show has had a year-over-year increase on Fox. That should be the pattern for the next few months as ratings bottomed out last year when WWE was running shows at the Performance Center with no live audience. Ratings picked up in August with the introduction of the ThunderDome.
The 18-49 and 18-34 overnight demo numbers were the exact same as one year ago this week.
Final ratings for the show will be out on Monday. Last week’s post-WrestleMania 37 episode of SmackDown averaged 2.119 million viewers in the final ratings. It drew a 0.56 rating in 18-49 and a 0.29 rating in 18-34.
