It’s official. Several wrestling news sites reported this week that WWE would be extending all pay-per-views.
WWE has finally confirmed the news. Basically, all pay-per-views will start at 7 pm eastern and will run until approximately 11 pm eastern. They could go a little longer than that if necessary.
The tentpole legacy pay-per-views (Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series) will be 5 hours long and will also start at 7 pm eastern. Presumably, WrestleMania will run longer than 5 hours. There’s no word yet on what this means for the Kickoff shows.
The good thing about this move is that more wrestlers will get a pay-per-view payday. The bad news for many fans is that there is so much wrestling on a week to week basis and some fans don’t want to sit through 4 hours of wrestling (plus Kickoff show) on a Sunday night.
More to come, but it’s official. All WWE PPVs will now start at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT. All shows will be minimum four hours long. The big four will be five hours long but still start at 7 ET/4 PT.
