Thanks to rajah.com reader Rem Martinez for sending this in last week, but I did not have internet access to post it until now.
Hey guys. I just returned from the WWE Road To Wrestlemania Live Event at the Citizen’s Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The arena was only about half full, but the crowd was alive nonetheless. Let’s get to it with The Champ’s Report.
Triple H appears on the tron (obviously pre-recorded for House Shows) and asks the crowd “Are you ready”?
Match #1
Dolph Ziggler vs Luke Harper
Crowd was fired up to see Dolph, but Harper got a nice reaction as well. Harper dominated the match in the beginning. He spent some time flexing his muscles and even blew a kiss to Lilian Garcia. Ziggler connects with the Zig Zag, but Harper kicks out at 2, much to the shock of the arena. Luke nails Ziggler with a Sit-Down Powerbomb, but the Showoff kicks out at 2. Dolph hits a Superkick and another Zig Zag to put Luke Harper away 1-2-3.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
A very good match to open the show.
Bray Wyatt appears on the tron and cuts a promo on his opponent, Roman Reigns. Wyatt was scheduled to face Randy Orton tonight, but it looks like that has been changed.
It’s time for some NXT action. It makes sense that these guys are on the road with the Main Roster since they are scheduled to work Wrestlemania Axxess.
Match #2
Tyler Breeze vs Finn Balor
Tyler cut a promo telling us how good looking he his and that we are jealous. Crowd was dead for this match. I guess not a lot of people here watch NXT. They got about 6 or 7 minutes, but I wish they had at least 15. Finn takes Breeze down, climbs to the top rope and nails the Coup de Grace to put away Prince Pretty for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Finn Balor
They run a promo for Conner “The Crusher” being the first winner of the Warrior Award. Good reaction by the crowd.
Match #3
Summer Rae, Cameron and Sasha Banks vs Natalya, Emma and Naomi
Fans were able to vote whether this would be a Six Diva Tag Team Match or a Singles Match. It’s a shame that “The Boss” Sasha Banks (the current NXT Women’s Champion) didn’t do very much in this match. Summer Rae gets locked in Nattie’s Sharpshooter and taps out quickly.
Winners by Submission: Naomi, Emma and Natalya
Emma was barely involved in this match. I think she spent more time doing her dance moves than she did wrestling in the match.
Match #4
The Miz w/Damien Mizdow vs Jimmy Uso
The crowd loves Mizdow, that’s for sure. Before the match, Miz handed Mizdow a Steel Chair so he can sit outside the ring and watch the match. Mizdow thought about nailing Miz with the chair, but thought better of it after Miz threatened to fire him. Uso gets a nice pop, but his brother is nowhere to be seen. Miz and Jimmy have a brief dance off where both men ended up doing the Worm. About halfway through the match, Mizdow gets on the ring apron and starts to mimic The Miz (despite no longer being Miz’s Stunt Double). Miz gets angry and walks into an Uso Superkick 1-2-3.
Winner: Jimmy Uso
Jimmy and Mizdow celebrate in the ring. Mizdow ends up doing the Worm as well.
Match #5
Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt
Reigns received a HUGE pop, but there were some boos as well. The 2015 Royal Rumble Winner was in control early like a house of fire. Wyatt was eventually able to ground Roman and slow the pace down. The #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Title went for the Superman Punch, but Bray caught him and nailed a Chokeslam. Wyatt went for Sister Abigail, but Roman reversed it into a rollup. Wyatt rolls through the rollup to get back on his feet, but Roman connects with a Superman Punch and a Spear for the 1-2-3.
Good Match. Time for intermission.
Match #6
Los Matadores w/El Torito vs Curtis Axel and Heath Slater
Axel grabbed a mic and informed us that he has been in the Royal Rumble for 56 days and that he will win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. His promo turns into a Hulkamania promo, just replace the word Hulkamania with Axelmania. He even tears his shirt Hulk Hogan style. This a comedy match for the most part. The best part of the match was when El Torito was on the apron and Curtis Axel kicked him. The bull went down hard. Fernando eventually gets the pin on Slater 1-2-3.
Winners: Los Matadores
Ummmmmmmmm…..Ole!
Match #7
Bad News Barrett (c) vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
Barrett cuts a promo telling us he is the true Intercontinental Champion and that he will never lose the title. Ambrose gets a really big pop here. A decent match between these 2. Barrett gives up and tries to leave with his belt and lose by countout. Dean Ambrose is having no part of that. Ambrose gets Barrett back in the ring, but BNB nails the Lunatic Fringe with a low blow. The ref calls for the bell.
Winner via Disqualification: Dean Ambrose
Sorry Deano, you win the match, but not the title. Ambrose is still down in pain, but BNB gets back in the ring and is calling for the Bull Hammer. Ambrose ducks and connects with Dirty Deeds to get a measure of revenge.
Kane appears on the tron and tells us that he will destroy Daniel Bryan in the Main Event.
Main Event
Daniel Bryan vs Corporate Kane in a Street Fight
This match consisted of a lot of Chair Shots and Shots with a Kendo Stick. Kane eventually slams Bryan into the Steel Steps. Daniel eventually gets the Monster down and pulls out a table. Kane recovers and tries to Chokeslam Bryan through the table, but he counters it into the Yes Lock. Kane is able to grab the Kendo Stick and blast Bryan in the head to force him to release the hold. Daniel Bryan hits a stiff kick to Kane’s head and he is out. Daniel lays Kane on the table and climbs to the top rope. Kane sits up and D-Bry jumps, Kane catches Bryan and Chokeslams him through the table…………….. 1-2-Kickout! Kane is furious and he gets a Steel Chair. Daniel hits the Flying Knee and the chair hits Kane in the face. 1-2-3.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
A fun Main Event to cap off a solid show. Not a single heel was victorious tonight.
