WWE 205 Live Results
August 21, 2018

— The show opened with a promo by Drake Maverick, who said that he was proud of both Cedric Alexander and Drew Gulak for representing Cruiserweight wrestling at WWE SummerSlam this past Sunday. Tonight’s main event will see the Lucha House Party face Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese in a Tornado Tag Team match!

— Vic Joseph welcomes us to the Barclays Center joined by Percy Watson and Nigel McGuinness as per usual. But they are not alone tonight, because Grammy-nominated performing artist Wale has joined the 205 Live commentary panel!

NOAM DAR vs. TJ PERKINS

The two went back and forth for a few minutes with some nice grappling exchanges, until TJP got bored with wrestling and rolled to the floor, grabbing a mic. He introduced the fans in attendance to his friend and personal guest for the evening, Wale! The hip hop star called him “PJ” and mocked him for still dabbing in 2018, and Dar flew through the ropes to take out TJP from behind.

I honestly have no idea what happened for the next five minutes because Wale was being hilarious on commentary, just talking about wrestling and the random artists he’s worked with, clearly having fun with Percy Watson. TJP got control back and applied some holds, making sure to take some time and taunt Wale, but his arrogance once again allowed Dar to blast him with a knee to the back.

It looked like Dar might have tweaked his knee on the move, and TJP immediately went after it with a Dragon Screw. Noam came back sweeping his opponent’s legs on the apron, but the damage was done. Perkins reversed a suplex rolling into a small package for two, but smartly transitioned right into a kneebar. Dar tried to pull himself to the ropes, and eventually did, but the surgically repaired knee was completely blown out. TJP figured he had the win in the bag, and for a third time his cocky nature screwed him over, turning around into a huge running kick! 1…2…3.

Winner: Noam Dar

— Drake Maverick is interviewed backstage about Drew Gulak demanding a rematch for the Cruiserweight Championship. He praises Gulak for being a great superstar and he’s definitely in the contention, but are others in line. On 205 Live you have to earn your title matches, so his request for a rematch has been officially denied. For now.

COLIN DELANEY vs. AKIRA TOZAWA

Before the match can begin, Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher rushed the ring from out of the crowd and laid waste to both guys. Drew Gulak came out in a suit and said he tried to be reasonable, but until he is granted his request for a rematch he is done playing by anyone else’s rules. He tells Cedric Alexander to stop hiding behind Big Daddy Maverick, be a man, and but his title on the line right now.

Cedric came out and said it’s funny that he’s being called a coward, when Drew Gulak is surrounded by Thing #1 and Thing #2 at all times. He knows if he comes down there he’s just going to get beaten down 3-on-1. Drake Maverick came out with referees to make sure they didn’t go after each other.

Gulak started quoting Dr. Seuss and then mocked the “Age of Alexander”. He said he was for a better 205 Live and the brand with Cedric as champion absolutely sucks. He called the champion a “choir boy” but when Alexander rushed the ring, Gulak ran for the hills like a coward with his friends.

TORNADO TAG TEAM MATCH
TONY NESE & BUDDY MUPRHY vs. LINCE DORADO & GRAN METALIK

Dorado flew off the top rope to take down both opponents with a crossbody right away, followed by launching Metalik into the air for a double dropkick. Nese and Murphy rushed the ring again but got lit up by stereo enzuigiris on the apron, before things broke down into an absolute slugfest all around ringside. In a beautiful spot, the lucha stars did stereo springboard moonsaults all the way to the floor, landing right on the money.

Murphy finally got some momentum going, connecting with a rolling elbow that nearly decapitated Dorado. They double teamed him on the floor, slamming him hard into the entrance ramp, then set their sights on the suddenly alone Gran Metalik. The high-flyer attempted to take them both out with a tope con hilo, but got caught out of the air and slammed hard into the apron. Lince slowly got to his feet and tried to help his partner, but Murphy once again blasted him with a hard elbow shot.

Metalik found his second wind, flying off the ropes clearing the ring with crazy dropkicks and flying armdrags. That guy has absolutely insane rope-walking skills. Unfortunately the 2-on-1 beatdown caught up with him again, as Nese slammed him down hard with a pumphandle slam. They looked to put things away but Dorado came flying out of nowhere with dropkicks to take them down, flying all around in a blur of yellow and purple, literally running circles around his opponents.

Dorado hit a tilt-a-whirl bulldog on Murphy for two, but got hit from behind by Murphy. They botched some kind of double team armdrag spot, but Dorado saved it with an awesome tilt-a-whirl DDT on Murphy, using Nese’s chest as a platform to springboard off of. He thought about the Shooting Star Press, but the heels just wouldn’t stay down long enough to make it possible.

Metalik now back in the action clearing the ring. Insane sequence as Metalik took down Murphy, Nese did a springboard moonsault to take him out, then Dorado hit a shooting star press to take HIM out. Murphy came back and hit Will Ospreay’s new finisher, but somehow Lince kicked out at two-and-three quarters.

Another even more insane sequence as Lince went up for a superplex, Nese did a spider suplex out of the tree of woe position to send him down HARD, Metalik walked the entire length of the top rope for a coast-to-coast dropkick on Nese, and Murphy hit a top rope moonsault on him, but still another close kickout.

WIth all four guys basically dead at this point, things broke down into a trade of superkicks and hard strikes. The lucha stars hit a trio of a moonsaults one after another on Nese before stacking up on top of him for the pin, but Murphy made the save at the absolute last second humanly possible. Rolling uppercut from Nese in the corner – this is just insane. I’ve probably missed at least 80 different moves just in the time it took me to write this sentence. Somehow they all ended up crashing and burning on big diving spots to the outside. They’re all dead now. It’s the end of 205 Live forever.

Just kidding… Metalik took a really hard bump to the floor and Kalisto went over screaming at the medics to check on him. Murphy shoved him into the announce table and rolled Metalik back into the ring trying to pin him, but Kalisto tripped him up on the apron. He went after the former champion, but Metalik took advantage and rolled him up for three!

Winners: Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado
