COLLEGEVILLE, PA — A woman was killed in Collegeville on Wednesday afternoon amid the rain and thunder when a tree fell on her car, according to first responders and media sources.
The incident occurred at the intersection of East Main Street and 9th Avenue at around 1 p.m.
The large tree caved in the middle of the small gray car, trapping the victim inside, the Trappe Fire Company said.

First responders from Trappe, Collegeville Fire Company, and Royersford Fire Department were able to rescue the woman from the vehicle, they said, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
The victim was later identified by NBC Philadelphia and 6ABC as 82-year-old Mary Baker.

East Main Street was shut down for a time as crews responded to the incident.
Collegeville police are leading an investigation into the death.
