FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The top-ranked Augsburg University wrestling team was unable to compete at this weekend’s Citrus Invitational tournament due to weather-related travel issues, which prevented the team from reaching the tournament at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in time on Saturday.

The Auggies were stranded in Atlanta, Ga., due to weather, and could not complete the connection to Florida in time for the tournament, said Augsburg head coach Jim Moulsoff. The team’s connecting flight from Atlanta was canceled on Friday, and the team was unable to be rebooked on another flight until early on Saturday morning from Atlanta to Tampa, Fla. — a four-hour drive across the state from Fort Lauderdale. The team arrived in Fort Lauderdale after the tournament had already begun on Saturday morning, and it was unable to join the action.

Augsburg’s next competition will be on Jan. 4-5, when it will compete at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III National Duals in Louisville, Ky.
