Although it has been considered a given that AJ Styles will be making his WWE debut as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match at this Sunday’s WWE pay-per-view, there is starting to be talk that he will not turn up during the 30-man over-the-top-rope match.
While Styles teased a Rumble appearance as recently as this past weekend during a post-match promo he cut for the live crowd at the Revolution Pro Wrestling event in the U.K., Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com is reporting that WWE has different plans for the former face of TNA Wrestling.
Alvarez mentioned that Styles could still appear in the Rumble match, WWE is apparently planning to have him debut on next Monday’s post-Royal Rumble edition of RAW in Miami, Florida. It’s said that WWE is already working on a vignette to introduce Styles to the WWE audience, as they feel most of their fans will not know who he is. With recent reports that WWE made a “blow away offer” to sign Styles after low-balling him in the past, many consider it interesting that WWE makes a significant offer to a talent that they assume no one knows.
Additionally, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles appears to be the only one of the four New Japan Pro Wrestling talents that are jumping ship to WWE that will be immediately debuting on the main roster and not passing through the NXT system first, as Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows are expected to do.
