Stacks defeated Joe Coffey on Tuesday’s NXT. As a result of the stipulations agreed to beforehand, D’Angelo will be released from jail and they will receive a future NXT Tag Team Championship match against Gallus. If Stacks had lost, he would have remained in jail until his trial.
The story of the match was that Stacks had led Gallus into believing that he would betray Tony D’Angelo by taking the pinfall. However, Stacks revealed that it was a swerve, telling Gallus that he wasn’t a snitch. The finish had Gallus being ejected after Stacks tricked Wolfgang into holding a crowbar in the ring, ejecting Gallus from ringside. Stacks then won the match with a big boot.
D’Angelo had been in jail for the last several weeks for unspecified crimes, though it was implied that Gallus was behind setting up D’Angelo. On a recent episode of NXT, Joe Coffey revealed to D’Angelo that Stacks had been talking to Gallus behind his back, leaving D’Angelo stunned and not knowing if he could trust Stacks ahead of this week’s match.
