SPRINGFIELD, IL — Tickets go on sale Friday to see the Smashing Pumpkins perform at the Illinois State Fair this summer, fair officials announced.
Since forming in Chicago in 1988, the Smashing Pumpkins have won two Grammys, two MTV VMAs, an American Music Award and sold more than 30 million albums — including 1993’s quadruple-platinum “Siamese Dream” and 1995’s diamond-certified “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.”

On Aug. 16, the trio of Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin headline the Illinois State Fair Grandstand.

“The Smashing Pumpkins defined a new sound in the 90s and have continued to evolve through the years,” Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark said, announcing the booking.
“This show is sure to draw an eclectic and enthusiastic crowd,” she said, “and we are excited to bring The Smashing Pumpkins back home to Illinois.”

Pronounced “Paris,” the band PVRIS will be opening for the Pumpkins at the fair. Formed in Lowell, Massachusetts in 2012, the band topped the Billboard emerging artist charts in 2014 and has the Rock Sound Icon and Alt Press Breakthrough Band of the Year awards and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster only starting at 10 a.m. on April 5, with prices starting from $55 and rising to $125 plus fees and an optional $30 pre-show party.
