BLOOMINGTON, MN — A GoFundMe page has raised more than $550,000 for the 5-year-old Woodbury boy who suffered life-threatening injuries after he was thrown from the third floor of the Mall of America Friday.

“We are all completely overwhelmed with the love and support that has come our way during this tragic time,” the page’s author, Noah Hanneman, states. Hanneman says his wife and the boy’s mother are best friends.

“He had a peaceful sleep and is still continuing to fight his courageous battle, he’s a strong survivor,” Hanneman said of the boy, identified as a 5-year-old named Landen.

Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide in the incident. Aranda is an apparent stranger to the toddler, according to authorities.

“The family doesn’t know him and are completely clueless as to why this monster would target their family with this heinous act of violence.”

Aranda — who has twice been ordered to stay away from the Mall of America — has several criminal convictions, including assault, interfering with a police officer, and property damage.

According to the Star Tribune, authorities say Aranda violated the mall ban in 2015 and was arrested after panhandling and harassing two women.

The boy was treated at the scene Friday before being transported to Children’s Minnesota Hospital. “He has many surgeries ahead in his life to try to get back to a normal life for a young, vibrant boy,” writes Hanneman.
