ÛÒ Runners who participate in the Cox Sports Marathon and Willow Tree Half
Marathon this spring will experience a new race course ÛÒ one that starts
and finish in downtown Providence and in between showcases scenic views of the
East Bay.
The Cox Sports Marathon and Willow Tree Half Marathon are part of the second annual Cox Providence Rhode Races. Slated for Sunday, May 3, 2009, this unique event also features a 5k run.
ÛÏWe have developed a very scenic course that will showcase the capitol city and include a good portion of the East Bay,Û said Charlie Breagy, race director, Cox Providence Rhode
Races.
The overall Cox Sports Marathon and Willow Tree Half Marathon courses have been enhanced from the inaugural event held last May. Both races will start and finish in downtown Providence and begin simultaneously at 8 a.m. on Exchange Street, adjacent to Burnside Park and Kennedy Plaza.
The 26.2 mile Cox Sports Marathon, which is a Boston Marathon qualifier, kicks off
on Exchange Street (adjacent to Kennedy Plaza and Burnside Park). The
course will wind through portions of East Side of Providence and head outside
the city to East Providence towards the East Bay. Runners will pass
Narragansett Bay and head to the East Bay Bike Path. The course then winds
through Barrington, returns through the East Bay Bike Path and concludes back
in downtown Providence to the finish.

Cox Providence Rhode Races registration and health and wellness expo will be held
at the Westin Providence, located within walking distance to the start/finish
line for the Cox Sports Marathon, Willow Tree Half Marathon and the 5k.
Register Now and Save
Enter the Cox Providence Rhode Races by the end of the year and save on the registration fees. Sign up by for the Cox Sports Marathon by December 31, 2008 and save $10. Runners can save $5 by registering for the Willow Tree Half Marathon by the end of 2008.
