Every WWE quarterly investors conference comes up with some interesting news items, a lot of information about how revenue streams are doing, a few funny rationalizations and occasional omissions, sometimes telling. The 3/2 call, covering the successful months of November through January, the company's third fiscal quarter of 2005-06, was more interesting for what wasn't said than what was.

The quarter was a big success financially for a number of reasons. The profit centers now driving the company are increases in merchandise, most notably DVD sales, and overall international business. What was the prime thing credited for the recent success ? Why, the move to the USA Network.

Now, let's think about this for a second. WWE moved from Spike to USA on 10/3. For the months of October, November and December, the ratings were virtually identical with the same period the prior year on Spike. Actually, there was a slight increase when you factor in the two special shows, the 10/3 debut with all the stars, and the 11/14 show the day after the death of Eddy Guerrero.
