The 18-year-old admits he has significant career objectives but is happy to be playing at Craven Cottage at the moment

Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon has denied having any interest in joining Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old was an integral part of the Whites side which won promotion to the Premier League after winning last season’s Championship play-off final.

He scored 16 goals during the 2017-18 campaign and was a late contender to be included in England’s World Cup squad.

Despite Slavisa Jokanovic’s side securing promotion, Sessegnon was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and was largely expected to leave Craven Cottage before the start of the new campaign.

But the West Londoners warded off interest from Jose Mourinho’s side and Sessegnon admits he was never once interested in joining the 20-time English league champions.

“I was always going to stay [at Fulham]. I was always focused on staying and playing for Fulham,” Sessegnon told The Mirror at the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Ratings Awards.

“It’s the one club I know. I feel very comfortable at Fulham at the moment, and just minutes on the pitch. I just wanted to play.”

Sessegnon has made an unspectacular start to his top-flight career this term, having yet to score in any of his six appearances for newly-promoted Fulham.

Though Sessegnon appears content remaining at Fulham for now, he has a string of career ambitions which could force him to move away from the club in the future.

“[I want to] play for England, to play in the Champions League, to play at major tournaments for my country,” he explained.

“[I want to] to play at World Cups, European Championships, to win Premier Leagues – just as many trophies as I can.”

Fulham may have blocked United’s pursuit last summer, but reports last month suggested Mourinho’s side could reignite their interest when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Express believe United remain keen on bringing Sessegnon to the club in an effort to prove they are a significant player in the transfer market.

But, amid speculation over Mourinho’s long-term future at the club, it remains to be seen whether United substantiate their interest with an offer in the New Year.
