LOS ANGELES, CA — A man was hospitalized after being pierced with an arrow on Sunset Boulevard Tuesday morning.

The unusual incident occurred at 7:56 a.m. in the 1400 block of Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Charles Miller.

“A person reported that someone had been shot by an arrow,” Miller said.

A man in his 40s was rushed by paramedics to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. Police had few details about how or why the man was pierced by an arrow.

“The victim was uncooperative, meaning he didn’t want to speak with police,” Miller said.

The medical condition of the victim was not immediately known, and police do not have a suspect description.

Crossbow or bow-and-arrow attacks are rare in Los Angeles. The LAPD doesn’t have statistics on arrow attacks readily available.
