“This is a privately owned pumping station at an apartment complex,” Don Curtian of the Department of Health told Patch in a Thursday email. “We received a call from a resident and no one at management has any info on volume. The pump was not operating properly and the pit overflowed. When we arrived to inspect, the overflow had already stopped.”
The closure will last until follow-up water testing shows water quality conditions are acceptable.

A water quality phone line said the closure will be in effect for one week after the “sewage overflow.”
“The Department of Health posted closure signs to let the public know about the closing,” the Anne Arundel County Department of Health said in a press release. “People coming in contact with the affected water are advised to wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.”
