PWInsider is reporting that John Hennigan (aka Johnny Impact) finished his run with the company at Sunday’s Slammiversary event, one year after he returned to the company. Hennigan lost to X-Division champion Rich Swann.

Hennigan’s contract expired several weeks ago but wanted to see his feud with Swann to completion. The company is still in talks with him about continuing with the promotion, but he is now free and clear to negotiate with any and all promotions.

Hennigan won the IMPACT World Championship at last year’s Bound For Glory event. He originally signed with the company in 2017, but took time off to film a season of Survivor. He’s also been a pillar of Lucha Underground, as well as WWE’s ECW revival.

There is no word on where Hennigan will wrestle after this, but he has a film entitled The Iron Sheik Massacre that is due for release in the fall.
