The hosts search for a first league win of the season and Fulham aim to bounce back from five straight defeats

The Premier League’s bottom two clubs go head to head at the Kirklees Stadium on Monday night.

Town prop up the foot of the table and are the only top-flight club without a win in the league, but Fulham are ahead of them by just two points so a victory would be vital for both clubs.

The Cottagers have won just once so far on their return to the Premier League and have registered only five points, but a result today would take them out of the bottom three.

Huddersfield will be hoping to stop them, though, in a game that is probably David Wagner’s best chance to notch a win so far.

Huddersfield come into this game fresh off a 3-0 thrashing at Watford last weekend and have lost five of their last six, so Wagner will be desperate for a win when they take on the league’s second bottom side at home.

The draw against Cardiff City in August earned Town their only home point of the league campaign so far and ties at Burnley and Everton took their tally up to three. An end to the wait for a victory is crucial however and three points on Monday night would go a long way to lifting Huddersfield out of the bottom three, helping them to leapfrog their opponents and Cardiff.

Fulham, meanwhile, have not won since their third game of the season against Burnley and have lost their last five matches. Jokanovic’s side have the worst defensive record in the league, having conceded 28 goals, and are yet to keep a top-flight clean sheet this term.

The form of Aleksander Mitrovic and Andre Shurrle has been pleasing, however, as the forwards have netted five goals and four goals respectively. If Fulham’s defence puts in a solid performance, they should have enough fire power to outscore the Terriers.

With clashes against Liverpool and Chelsea among their next three fixtures, a win could be crucial before Fulham go into a tricky run of games.
