TINLEY PARK, IL — Hours after the initial call, Cook County Sheriff’s officers and Tinley Park police remain on scene at a reported barricade situation at a home at 179th and Harlem Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 10:36 a.m. Thursday, Cook County Sheriff’s police were called with a report of a barricade situation at a home near 179th and Harlem Avenue. Sheriff’s Police Hostage Barricade Team are on scene. No injuries have been reported, the sheriff’s office said. Tinley Park Police have also refuted reports of shots fired.
Police response has closed Harlem Avenue from Hickory Street to 183rd Street, and 179th Street and Harlem to Sayre, police said. The incident is active and drivers are asked to avoid the area. The situation is ongoing, with no additional updates as of 6 p.m.

“The Tinley Park Public team (police, fire, EMA and dispatch) is assisting Cook County Sheriff’s police with an incident on Harlem Avenue,” said Village Manager Pat Carr. “It is isolated to the area of 179th and Harlem. We will continue to update the public on the closure of Harlem avenue.”
