Panathinaikos claimed straight three set victory (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) over mediocre Lamia on Friday in the first game of this round. Stelios Kazazis stated after the game that it was an easier win than he expected.

 

 

 

For Panathinaikos Minoudis and Yordanov were the stars of the team. On the other hand Lamia had Price in a bad day. This win let Panathinaikos alone in the top of the standings with 40 points.

Iraklis managed to win the second tie break in a row in the game against Aris. From Iraklis team Ryan Jay Owens was amazing with 21 points and 7 aces and Makis Kanellos with 13 points and 5 blocks. Nikos Roumeliotis with 24 points and Kiosis with 13 were the best players for Aris. Iraklis with 39 points placed alone in the second place.

Olympiakos easily won 3-1 (18-25, 22-25, 25-19, 22-25) over Kalamaria. Kalmazidis stated after the game that his players thought that the game was finished after the second set and lost their effectiveness. PAOK in Athens defeated Panellinios 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 22-25, 14-25) having Bojic and Steinberg in a great day.

On Monday a great battle between Epikouros and Ethnikos Alexandroupolis finished in tiebreak. Despite losing the first set Epikouros finaly won 3-2 (23-25, 25-12, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11) with Pavel Kruzajev scoring 30 points. For Ethnikos Jassim Al Nabhan with 28 points was very effective.

EAPatron will face Kifisia on Wednesday for the last game of 17th round. The team of Patra lost the game in Italy against Lube Banca Marche Macerata in the semis of the 2011 GM Capital Challenge Cup. In this game Daivison Ferreira Da Silva injured his ankle and was hence substituted by Anastasios Aspiotis.

On Wednesday there is also the big battle between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos for semis of Greek Cup. The following day PAOK will face Iraklis in Thessaloniki for the second ticket to the final in Orestiada.
