LAKEHURST, NJ — Wawa will be more convenient for Lakehurst residents starting July 20, when its new store opens on Pine Street.
Wawa officials announced the store’s grand opening, which is set for 8 a.m. on July 20, though people are urged to gather at 7:45 a.m. to help count down to the doors opening for the first time.
“This ceremonial start gives a nod to the power of positivity and kindness that naturally occurs when Wawa customers hold the door for one another, celebrating a gesture that happens thousands of times a day at Wawa stores and makes everyone feel welcomed and appreciated,” the company said in announcing the grand opening.

Customers will then be invited inside to get a free any size cup of coffee and participate in a community toast and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. with Wawa’s mascot Wally Goose.
Wawa also will recognize local first responders with Hoagies for Heroes hoagie-building competition. Local first responders from Lakehurst Police Department, Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Company, and Lakehurst First Aid Squad will compete to see who can build the most hoagies in 3 minutes. Each department will receive $1,000 for its charity of choice.

The first 100 customers through the door on July 20 will receive a limited-edition “Wawa Coffee, Hoagies & Kindness” T-shirt, while supplies last. All customers can enjoy free coffee on July 20 at the store, located at 604 Pine Street.
Kyle Sommer will serve as general manager of the new Lakehurst Wawa store, which will employ about 50 people, Wawa said.
Wawa plans to open up to 76 new stores throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and Florida in 2023.
