On April 5 at 4:24 p.m., volunteer firefighters from the Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department went to Encampment Drive to find heavy fire involving both the interior and exterior of four units on the C side (rear), said Fire Chief Carson Brienza.
“Bulk of the body of fire was knocked quickly after arrival, with water on the fire in under 2 minutes from the first fire engine being on the scene. Fire was marked under control at the 1 hour mark, with overhaul commencing shortly thereafter,” said Brienza.

As a result, extensive damage was reported in the units directly involved in the fire, but limited to those units. All other units in the building were protected and had minor smoke damage, said Brienza.
Four of the five units suffered uninhabitable fire damage and one unit suffered uninhabitable water damage.

“Witnessing our crew’s efforts to contain the recent fire was tremendous. Fire was heavy on arrival, and Bedminster Township Police Department did a phenomenal job conducting evacuations from surrounding units. Firefighters executed a well-coordinated strategy, isolating the fire units from non-impacted units,” said Brienza.
Helping at the scene along with the Bedminster Police included Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad, Liberty Corner Fire Company, Peapack Gladstone Fire Department, North Branch Volunteer Fire Company, Green Knoll Fire Department, Basking Ridge Fire Co. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of firefighters and the support of our mutual aid partners, we managed to save the majority of the building and surrounding area,” said Brienza. “As I reflect on this call, I’m reminded of the resilience of our community and the strength that comes from working together. It’s a testament to the power of teamwork and the unwavering dedication of those who serve our communities, many of which are volunteers.”
