WEST ORANGE, NJ — An early morning fire took place at a home in West Orange on Wednesday, authorities said.

The West Orange Fire Department responded to a fire in the basement of a home on Ashland Avenue at 1:17 a.m., putting the flames out soon afterwards, a township spokesperson told Patch.

No injuries were reported, authorities said.

The Red Cross New Jersey reported that its disaster volunteers helped six people in two families with temporary housing, food, clothing and other needs in the wake of Wednesday’s fire.
