Jammu and Kashmir has become yet another Indian state to introduce the death penalty for those convicted of sexually abusing minors.

Introduced in the aftermath of the horrific Kathua gang rape and murder, the Jammu and Kashmir Protection of Children from Sexual Violence Ordinance, 2018 along with the Jammu and Kashmir Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, were promulgated by state governor NN Vohra.
