Backstage Update on Finn Balor’s WWE Status

As we noted earlier this week, via F4WOnline.com, original plans for the Royal Rumble main event in January were to feature Brock Lesnar vs Finn Balor for the WWE Universal Title.

Those plans were reportedly scrapped this past Monday morning, and it remains to be seen who The Beast will face come January.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, reports of the Rumble main event being nixed are inaccurate, as Balor was reportedly never in the mix as a possible Lesnar opponent.

The Barrasso report furthers that Vince McMahon views Finn Balor as bland when he is not portraying The Demon character, which is likely why Balor is being held back from the main event picture in WWE.

While Barrasso speculated that Balor reuniting with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on Raw as The Club could give Balor some new life on Raw, it’s being said WWE is adverse to that idea.
