WWE Champion Daniel Bryan collided with Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in a battle of world champions this Sunday at Survivor Series, but when the dust had settled it was the “Beast Incarnate” that was standing tall.
Well… More like limping his way out of the Staples Center, one might say.
While Bryan did not emerge victorious from his greatest challenge to date, the eternal underdog put up a bigger fight than perhaps any superstar who has stepped into the ring with Lesnar in several years.
After spending nearly ten minutes being ragdolled around the ring with deadly suplexes, almost knocked completely unconscious at several points in the match, Bryan rallied back after YET AGAIN taking out the referee, kicking his opponent in the groin, and connecting with a running knee strike.
The WWE Champion would go on to give The Beast the fight of his lifetime, connecting with multiple knee strikes and locking in a few killer submission holds. At one point, it almost looked like Lesnar may actually tap out to Bryan’s patented knee strike, but in the end he broke the hold, countered a corner dropkick, and connected with one final F5 to score the victory.
After the match Lesnar looked visibly stunned, perhaps selling the effects of the match, or perhaps legitimately injured as he was clutching as his knee — a body part Bryan did not consistently work over during their bout.
