As noted, longtime WWE performer Hornswoggle was one of the eight talents released by WWE last week.

Following Hornswoggle’s release after nearly ten years with WWE, former WWE creative team member Kevin Eck posted a blog to tell the story behind one of the more odd angles in recent WWE history, which saw Hornswoggle revealed as the longtime Anonymous RAW General Manager.

Eck claimed that he pitched an idea for Kevin Nash to be revealed as the Anonymous RAW General Manager, with the idea being he had to keep his identity a secret because he was under contract with TNA while serving as the secret GM of RAW.

In the end, Eck noted that one of the main reasons WWE went with Hornswoggle was due to the fact that they felt they botched the angle with him being Vince McMahon’s illegitimate son.

“The idea was that after Hornswoggle was outed as the GM, he’d reveal who he truly was,” Eck said regarding part of the plans for the angle. “Saying that his name was Lou Manfredini (the last name of one of the writers), he would speak with a W.C. Fields-like accent, chomp on cigars and refer to women as ‘dames.'”

Eventually the idea was that Hornswoggle would become a heel authority figure, with Vince McMahon even green-lighting the concept, however it was ultimately decided that Hornswoggle didn’t really work out that well as a heel authority character.
