Ahead of tonight’s AEW Full Gear 2019 pay-per-view from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, several members of the AEW roster took part in various media scrums and interviews to promote the big event.
During one of the media scrums featuring AEW star Darby Allin, the pro wrestling veteran was asked to explain why he chose to sign with All Elite Wrestling instead of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
“Creative freedom, hands down,” Allin replied. “A lot of people if they see me at first, they don’t know how to present me.”
Allin would go on to elaborate, explaining how he didn’t trust the creative system in WWE to properly present his unique persona and how AEW gave him the freedom to make sure it’s handled correctly.
“AEW is like ‘How do you want to be presented?’ instead of ‘This is how we’re going to present you.'” Allin continued. “Give me that creative freedom. WWE would have probably made me a creepy figure in a boiler room jacking off or something.”
He concluded, “No, I’m fine. I want to skateboard and represent that culture.”
