After failing to make the main card at SummerSlam, Sami Zayn will be better positioned at Raw’s upcoming Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
It was announced on Monday night’s edition of Raw that Zayn will face Chris Jericho at Clash of Champions. The show will be Raw’s first brand-exclusive PPV since the WWE Draft.
Their feud was set up earlier in the night when Zayn made an appearance on Jericho’s Highlight Reel show. Jericho promised to expose Zayn as the stupid idiot he really is, and said that Zayn was the problem in the Zayn/Kevin Owens relationship. The segment ended with Jericho faking that he got a text from Owens, then smashing his phone in Zayn’s face.
In Monday night’s opening match, Sasha Banks faced off against Bayley and Dana Brooke in a triple threat match. The winner would challenge Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions, but Banks retained her spot in the match after pinning Bayley.
Roman Reigns will face Owens in the main event of Raw. If Reigns wins, he will be inserted in Clash of Champions’ Universal Championship main event.
UPDATE: Owens defeated Reigns after getting some help from Rusev, who briefly distracted Reigns.
Clash of Champions takes place on September 25th in Indianapolis, IN. The current card for the show is:
WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens defending against Seth Rollins
Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte defending against Sasha Banks
Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day defending against Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho
