PENACOOK, NH — Concord police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Penacook on Monday.

Just after 4:30 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Washington Street for a report of a crash. The rider was immediately pronounced dead at the scene.

While limited official information is available at post time, witnesses said the rider, while traveling west, struck a guardrail on the bridge over the Contoocook River and was thrown from the bike. The motorcycle continued to travel until Fowler Street, where it stopped off the side of the road.

Firefighters covered the body and were at the scene, blocking the road. An officer said the street would be closed for a while.
