WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three Gloucester County sheriff’s officers were hurt in a firearms mishap while training at a shooting range last Friday in Camden County.

The officers sustained minor injuries from the “inadvertent discharge,” said Tom Gilbert, chief of detectives for the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.

The incident occurred at South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow Township. Camden County officials are investigating the matter, since it occurred in their jurisdiction.

“Three people were injured, luckily in a minor fashion,” Gilbert told Patch. “The investigation needs to continue, and the right people are engaged to make sure there’s full transparency and that a complete and thorough inquiry is conducted.”

A spokesperson for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office referred questions about the incident to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office. Patch contacted the sheriff’s office and will update with any response.
