SHELTON, CT — Popular sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its twelfth Connecticut location in Shelton last week.
Located at 795 Bridgeport Avenue in the Fountain Square plaza, the new Shelton shop officially opened for business Wednesday, according to Jersey Mike’s spokesperson Robert Calabro.
“Our [Shelton] customers can expect the same consistent product and service that Jersey Mike’s is known for,” Calabro said in an email to Patch.

Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell said the store’s opening Wednesday also featured a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We were pleased to join with franchise owners Mitchell and Kayla Thomson in opening their twelfth location in Connecticut,” Purcell said. “Mayor Mark Lauretti joined in cutting the ribbon with an exuberant crowd of Jersey Mike’s employees and invited chamber members and guests.”

Purcell also noted Jersey Mike’s will host a “Make a Difference Day” fundraising event at the Shelton store on March 27.
“The Thomsons have chosen Make A Wish Connecticut as the recipient of this year’s fundraising drive,” Purcell said.
Jersey Mike’s recently opened new Connecticut locations in Hamden earlier this year and Monroe late last year.
The chain specializes in cold and hot subs, ranging from classics like roast beef and provolone and chicken salad to unique options like a chipotle chicken cheesesteak.
Fountain Square has seen many new additions open in recent months, and a number of exciting new business are planning to open there in the near future.
Sugar Llamas, a small chain specializing in mini donuts, coffee and ice cream, announced last week plans to open their first Connecticut location at the plaza sometime in April.
The Shelton location’s menu will consist of Sugar Llama’s popular and inventive mini donuts, as well as specialty coffee drinks, their signature “Llama”- aid and ice cream made fresh in-house.
Custom ice cream cakes will also be available.
“We look forward to welcoming Sugar Llamas…and others,” Purcell said, “to the growing list of businesses on this campus.”
