UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A local Greek eatery in Lenox Hill has suddenly closed their doors for good after nearly a decade of slinging souvlakies on First Avenue.
Greek Eats, a self-described upscale casual Greek food restaurant, suddenly shuttered last week, according to a neighbor.
“We really liked it a lot,” the neighbor told Patch. “It’s too bad.”

A sign on the front door of 1229 First Ave. says that the closure is only temporary, due to maintenance.
But an even larger sign next to it has a bolder proclamation: “Restaurant for rent.”

The restaurant’s phone went unanswered and the spot’s Instagram account, which frequently gave their employees shout-outs, last posted on Nov. 26.
Greek Eats first opened in 2015, replacing Mexican standby, Aprovecho.
In addition to their tasty spanakopita, Greek Eats was well known for their Greek frozen yogurt.
