NEW YORK CITY — Turkey day came early for Eric Adams, but the vegan mayor waited nearly a week to dish about it.
Adams on Wednesday finally faced reporters’ questions about last week’s FBI raid on a key fundraiser — a search that stemmed from a probe about potential illegal campaign donations from the Turkish government.
But Hizzoner offered few details about the raid and investigation during the highly anticipated question-and-answer, aside from how it little affected his slumber.

“I sleep well at night,” he said.
“I am clear that we follow the rules. And I am angry if there are those in any way attempt to do anything that will go against our process of how we collect campaign dollars or the procedures that are in our city. But my campaign will follow the rules.”

Adams did reveal that he has retained a private law firm amid the FBI’s probe into his campaign fundraising.
He also denied that the investigation will affect his ability to deal with major issues such as the asylum seeker crisis, despite the FBI raid prompting him to suddenly bail on a high-profile trip to the White House involving that very issue.
Indeed, Adams offered few details on exactly about the raid was so pressing that he had to return to New York City.
He did offer that he was concerned about Brianna Suggs, the fundraiser whose Crown Heights home was raided Nov. 2.
“As a human being, I was concerned about a young, 25-year-old staffer that went through a traumatic experience,” he said.
Minutes later, Adams said he didn’t actually talk to Suggs.
“I communicated and navigated the ongoing situation as it was ongoing, and I wanted to be present to do that,” he said.
When a reporter asked Adams if his abrupt cancelation showed that he was prioritizing his campaign’s needs over the city’s, his answer was short: “No.”
