IF YOU HAVEN’T managed to catch any Super Rugby so far there are two things you need to know:
1. The Chiefs with Sonny Bill will be tough to stop.
2. The Hurricanes backline is mouth-wateringly good.
When everyone’s fit the Wellington side can pick six All Blacks behind the scrum – TJ Perenara, Beauden Barrett, Cory Jane, Conrad Smith, Ma’a Nonu and Julian Savea.
Toulon and maybe Clermont can field a backline with similar strength but the ‘Canes just might have the best of them all.
They’ve underperformed in the last few seasons but have started 2015 off with three away wins against the Lions, the Bulls and today against the Force.
They got the bonus point win earlier in Perth and it was Savea who casually burnt one defender and bumped another on the way to the line.
Early days at the moment but judging from what we’ve seen so far the two New Zealand sides look like the class of the league.
The Chiefs have done well without Sonny Bill Williams in the last two seasons – winning the trophy once and making the playoffs in the other year – but he has already been prominent in their strong start.

The Brumbies boast an excellent back division too, with Matt Toomua, Henry Speight, Christian Lealiifano, Jesse Mogg, Tevita Kuridrani and Joe Tomane at Stephen Larkham’s disposal.
